Session Sequence Bicycle Training Outline

🟢 Session 1: Balance Basics

  • Remove pedals and set up the bike for push-style movement
  • Teach your rider how to walk, stride, and “bunny hop” while seated
  • Practice using simple cones or visual targets in your own space

    Goal: Help your rider get comfortable balancing and moving without pedals — all while keeping their feet safely on the ground.

🟡 Session 2: Skills & Maneuvering

  • Introduce turning drills that use body lean, head movement, and visual focus
  • Practice S-turns, wide circles, and U-turns using fun, low-pressure challenges
  • Build coasting confidence with simple distance games

    Goal: Improve bike control, directional awareness, and turning readiness — all without pedals.

🔵 Session 3: Pedal Introduction

  • Reinstall pedals once your rider shows balance and control
  • Teach the pedal-ready start position (using our signature NTW technique)
  • Support your child through their first real pedal ride — usually longer than you expect!

    Goal: Transition from coasting to real riding, using a proven step-by-step progression that builds natural confidence.

🟣 Session 4: Safely Cycling

  • Introduce braking techniques and safe stopping (coaster or hand brake)
  • Add awareness drills: looking, reacting, and using hand signals
  • Build full control by combining starts, turns, stops, and safe route planning

Goal: Help your rider ride with flow, safety, and awareness — ready for sidewalks, trails, or the neighborhood loop.
